I'm officially designating summer 2025 as Brat Slop Summer. The melding of two cultural forces in flat design: AI slop that proliferated on social media, and the flat design of Brat thrust in to the real world through environmental advertising.
Full disclosure: This comes from a stressed mind in the wake of November 5th. Absurdism! It remains a potent salve.
AGI only do four things: Be brat, make slop, eat hot chip and lie. (The flattening of culture is upon us. Make weirder art. Thrive)
Be brat: AGI is not in the immediate horizon. Enjoy the hype.
Make slop: The democratization of art (a good thing!) means deep experimentation. Not all of what is generated will be golden whether produced by human or AI. Trust the process.
Eat hot chip: Reference to a past trend for immediate familiarity and disruption to stressful thoughts many are experiencing at this time. Hopefully some will laugh. This is advanced memetics, yet still mere experimentation.
And lie: Large language models do be doing that, and to a degree the MBA class can't grapple with. Most LLMs aren't fit for businesses purposes. (You forgot all the proud announcements followed by significant backtracking to AI features already. It's ok. This is the reminder they happened. It wasn't a fever dream).
Something something summary etc etc and thus; the Velocity of Memetic Inference. (This is a work in progress.)
